About the Author
Born in New York, Jana Laiz has been writing since age five; her first full length novel completed at age ten, The Mysterious Land of the Ping Pong People. Sadly that work never was published. Since age seventeen Jana has worked with people from war-torn countries, first as a volunteer and then as a case worker for the International Rescue Committee in New York City serving Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian refugees. She speaks fluent Chinese, was a tour guide in China before moving to the Berkshires where she has been teaching English as a Second Language to children and adults for many years. For three years she published a unique and charming newspaper called The Kids’ Onion, showcasing the work of local children and children’s writers.
She lives with her family in a two hundred year old farmhouse in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of
